Question 1

Is it worth visiting Masai Mara outside the Great Migration season?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Outside the peak migration months, the Masai Mara offers world-class wildlife viewing with resident Big Five populations that never migrate. You will enjoy lush green scenery, clear dust-free air, lower accommodation rates, and significantly fewer vehicles at wildlife sightings.

Question 2

What are the weather and temperature patterns like throughout the year in Masai Mara?

Accepted Answer

Positioned near the equator at an altitude of approximately 1,500 to 2,000 meters, the Masai Mara enjoys a pleasant, temperate climate year-round. Daytime temperatures generally reach 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, while early morning game drives and evenings can drop to 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, requiring warm fleece layers.

Question 3

When are the long rains and short rains in Kenya?

Accepted Answer

The long rains typically fall in April and May, bringing substantial rainfall that replenishes the savanna, while the short rains occur in November and December, characterized by brief afternoon thundershowers that clear quickly.
