Question 1

Can I visit the Mara River crossings if I stay in a private conservancy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Guests staying in private conservancies can easily arrange full-day game drives into the main Masai Mara National Reserve to witness the Great Migration river crossings, complete with a gourmet bush picnic lunch packed by their camp.

Question 2

Which private conservancies are prominent in the greater Mara?

Accepted Answer

Renowned conservancies include Mara North Conservancy, Olare Motorogi Conservancy, and Naboisho Conservancy. All three feature exceptional predator densities, eco-rated camps, strict vehicle limits, and expansive private wilderness acreage.

Question 3

Are private conservancies more expensive than staying in the National Reserve?

Accepted Answer

Conservancy camps often carry higher nightly rates because they incorporate daily conservation levies that go directly to Maasai landowner families, and include premium activities such as night drives, guided walks, and bush meals that are unavailable inside the public reserve.
